In this course, we were encouraged to use Evernote and Web Clipper to build our personal knowledge bases. I think it is very helpful and easy to use especially when I surf on the internet and find some something interesting occasionally. I can just click the elephant and save in my Evernote. In this course, we were asked to read five articles as our homework, which really helped me learn a lot of things about American education and accumulate materials which are needed to do the report of this course.
In the past, I would save a website as the bookmark of my browser, but when I re-installed it, all of my bookmarks disappeared, which made me very upset. Evernote is my own online notebook which will exist with my account. What's more, I find its function is far more than keeping notes, it is a kind of online hard disk. I can save my photos and other kinds of files in it and I even can record to create a note. And all of your notes including documents, photos and recordings can be displayed. This function is really practical especially when we want to present something to many people and page design is very beautiful. To my surprise, my Evernote can also be shared with others by publishing to the Facebook and Twitter or by inviting my friends or families to read or edit it together. I will make full use of Evernote in my future life and introduce it to my friends.
A strategy that I developed by using Evernote is to build my dictionary. When I read or study, I always need to look up some words in the online dictionary. However, when I get their meaning, I will just close the tab or look up another words without writing down the former ones. For my bad memory, I often need to look up the same word again. After using Evernote Web Clipper, I find that if I click the article and save in my Evernote on the page of an explanation of one word, I can just make my own dictionary. What's more, I can read them at any time to review. (The picture is just an example, I don't want me look stupid by showing you my real dictionay. Hahahahahahahaha! LOL! )
The only thing of Evernote that makes me headache is to create different folders to categorize all of my notes. I am really a lazy person so that icons on the desk of my computer is totally messy. However, maybe using Evernote is a chance to force me to learn this ability and become a laborious girl.
I think Evernote is better used in higher education than in K-12 because K-12 students don't need to utilize many sources from internet and their self-control is weaker. What's more, I think the way to recommend it is very important. If it is introduced as a study tool, maybe some students will feel repulsive to use it. I think teachers can use it in front of students and draw their interest to let themselves to ask you about it.
In conclusion, I like Evernote and thanks for the introduction from professor. It is helpful in both study and life and I will try to discover more functions of it and I hope I can use this in my future educational career.
